Common questions about online tutoring
Everything you need to know about our process. Can’t find your answer?
How long are lessons and how often do students study?
Lessons typically run from 60 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the student’s needs. Most students study once or twice a week, with more intensive schedules during exam periods.
How are lessons delivered?
All lessons are delivered online using interactive tools, including shared whiteboards and full lesson recordings. Students can review both the session and materials after each lesson.
How do you match students with tutors?
Students are matched with tutors who specialise in their exact subject and exam board. For university preparation, we assign tutors with experience in specific courses and institutions, including Oxbridge. All tutors are DBS checked.
Can we change tutor if needed?
Yes. If a tutor is not the right fit, we can arrange a change at any point. Our team will work with you to ensure the student is properly supported.
Do you offer a trial?
We offer a structured trial package of 5 hours at a reduced rate. This allows the tutor to review the student’s mock assessment, explain the improvement plan, and begin teaching from the first sessions.
Is homework set between lessons?
Yes. Tutors set targeted homework after each lesson, focused on specific gaps in knowledge and exam technique. This often includes past paper questions and structured practice tasks.
How is progress tracked?
Progress is monitored through regular tutor reports and ongoing assessment, including mock exams leading up to exam day. This ensures teaching remains focused and measurable.
Can lessons be rescheduled?
Tutors offer flexibility where possible, but we require at least 6 hours’ notice to reschedule a lesson.
Who is this suitable for?
We work with a wide range of students, from those who need support building foundations to high-achieving students aiming for top grades and competitive university entry.
When will we see improvement?
Because each programme is based on detailed assessment and analysis, many students begin to see progress within the first few sessions.
What language are lessons taught in?
Lessons are conducted in English. Additional language support can be provided if needed, and a member of the Seti team is present in each session for support and safeguarding.
